Pop Fly
Spring 2008 MusicReview:
The savvy lyrics are irresistible. The vocal and instrumental layers are gorgeous. Mellow rock 'n roller Justin Roberts serves his vividly observed slice-of-a-kid's-life songs with empathy and artistry, proving once again why he belongs in family music's top tier.
A sampling: A kid in the outfield dreads a pop fly, but can't resist the sight of dandelions and "cotton candy clouds that look like elephants." A younger sibling feels button-busting pride watching his big sister, the crossing guard. The excitement of "Big Field Trip" preparations -- the permission slip, assigned buddies, the waiting bus-is nearly unbearable. A wise mom inspires confidence with her wise interpretation of first-day tummy nerves ("Giant-Sized Butterflies").
